The Assembly Manager will lead and manage the assembly shop to successfully meet production schedules within defined deliverable, quality and safety standards and targets. The assembly shop is comprised of six supervisors and approximately 90 employees. The Assembly Manager will also manage the ongoing workforce analysis and ensure the operation is properly staffed. This role will participate in and manage projects and/or reports that have a significant influence on the production function of the organization. This role will require a hands-on, servant leader who is excited about building world-class boats.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and direct the production of the Assembly Shop to meet production schedules that meet or exceed quality standards.
Lead the day-to-day activities of the Assembly Shop operation to achieve both short- and long-term financial and operation objectives established in the business plan.
Hold teams accountable to adherence of company policies.
Improve processes to meet quality and productivity requirements along with communication expectations.
Responsible for determining the causes of the non-conformities and production delays, along with execution of any immediate measures and corrective actions.
Collaborate with different departments to meet the assigned production tasks and requirements.
Lead the production output plan (daily & monthly) to achieve delivery and quality goals. Assists in breaking down barriers and eliminating production issues to obtain these goals.
Maintain efficiency and utilization throughout department via assigning and developing Supervisors / Leads to help lead their teams, addressing productivity, process, and quality issues where needed, along with conducting root cause analysis.
Check time standards in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering to maintain appropriate standards throughout shop.
Maintain departmental adherence to high standards of safety and 5S / housekeeping in compliance with company policies.
Maintain positive associate and leadership relations within the guidelines of company policy.
Lead and assist in all related associate actions and development to include attraction, retention, development, performance review, discipline, etc., for associates.
Lead regular communication and start-up meetings and drive resolution to quality/ improvement opportunities across the shop.
Support lean culture development using tools for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
5+ years related manufacturing experience, preferably within the boat manufacturing industry.
3+ years leadership experience running a manufacturing facility.
Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
Ability to analyze and solve unique problems.
Ability to work in an office or indoor industrial environment.
Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment while simultaneously handling multiple responsibilities.
Ability to manage complexity and work under pressure.
Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to follow up and get results.
Safety mindset: Ensuring safety is the number one goal for the Assembly Shop.
Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP.
Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
